FAQ - Converting a practice to private

This is a challenging time for any practice owner and their team. The time has come for changes to be made, but how do you go about it? Will it be successful? What will the patients say and how should you respond?

These are all common fears.

At Practice Doctor we have worked with a number of practices that have successfully and smoothly moved from NHS to private and we have a proven method and step-by-step process to walk you through.

Our programme for converting a practice from the NHS to a private offering is individually tailored to the practice and involves setting the vision for the dentist and team for the future.

This is done with in-practice team meetings to discuss all aspects of the conversion. We will set fee levels, timings for treatments, budgets to measure performance against the business plan and to lend a listening ear to the team and dentist throughout the conversion.

We find that most practices require up to nine months' lead-time for the conversion to make sure that everyone is comfortable with the change and to have ready answers for all the questions patients might ask.

We are able to help with maintenance plans, welcome packs and training in all the areas of patient contact as part of the total offering. We will also coach the dentist team to enhance their skills explaining the change and in offering the private choices to patients.

We are also able to make an existing private practice into a more exclusive practice with team training so that patients get a real "wow" when they visit.

We are able to offer the names of practices that have been through the programme and can give a testimonial. We also guarantee that we will make more extra profit for the practice than our fees in the year.
